Presented by Seppi’s Mampferia & IRON-T21
Seppi’s Mampferia, Möhlin, Switzerland – 11.06.2022
The Werkhof Open Air is hosted by Seppi’s Mampferia in Möhlin. A rock and metal concert was created in collaboration with IRON-T21. F.U.S.E was hired as headliner. The Dirtons became the slot as support act. It sounded promising and a visit to the event was a duty. It startet at 8:30 pm and the band The Dirtons stood on stage with stunning weather. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this punk rock band from Münchenstein live on stage. For this reason I was looking forward to their performance. It started with the great  song „Seppe Joe“ which warmed up legs and feet and put the body in a dancing mood by its catchy rhythm. All of a sudden the string on the guitar of Mathieu got broke and he ran behind the stage for a substitute. Therefore the song play time was extended until he clamped the new string. It didn’t take long and the punk rock battleship was back on course to rock on. „Nie Wieder Krieg“ sounded after „Out of Control“. A current topic in relation to the Ukraine war. Especially noticeable was the band Body Count left their mark on the songs of the Münchensteiner. You noticed it in the rap and guitar tunes of singer & guitarist Roman Müller. A great, catchy crossover sound that kicks ass. That’s how it should be. This was brought across cool and casual by a band in a good mood and a lot of humor. The black sunglasses on Roman's head further raised the coolness status. Bassist Christian Isler caused enthusiasm with his dexterity on the bass and guitarist Mathieu was allowed to come up with vocals. Furthermore he supported Roman with his chant when polyphonic vocal parts appeared in the chorus. The party atmosphere was provided by "Bier alle ist". Although some original compositions were played that evening, a number of cover versions found their way into the set. There were a whole eight of them in the end. Normally, all good things come in threes, but in this case there are eight. After "D-Level" the trio said goodbye. They had to wait two and a half years for this concert because of the evil C-word. The performance pleased me and the present spectators. However, I would have liked more commitment from the crowd. Setlist The Dirtons Seppe Joe Out of Control Nie wieder Krieg Pop Song (REM) Beltblaster Song 2 (Blur) Blitzkrieg Bop (Ramones) Masquerade Fight for your right to party (Beastie Boys) Bier alle ist Ça plane pour moi (Plastic Betrand) The call of the raven Wonderful world (Louis Armstrong) American Idiot (Green Day) Ace of Spades (Motörhead) D-Level A short break followed and the stage was rearranged. A good opportunity to get some drinks, because the heat was palpable at all times. Besides, it was nice to exchange with old acquaintances that one hadn‘t seen for a while. At 10 pm an intro sounded and the band members of F.U.S.E got on stage. "Real Temptation" sounded and singer Rob presented himself in a good mood with an oiled voice. He put heart and soul into the sung lyrics while lead guitarist JT caused enthusiasm with guitar solos and sunglasses. His appearance reminded a bit of the American guitar legend Joe Satriani. He received support from rhythm guitarist Stefan while drumer Jerry behind the drumkit orientated to him and kicked ass with his play. The new bass player Stephan convinced, left a sympathetic impression and sought contact with lead guitarist JT for guitar duels. Unfortunately the stage wasn‘t very big and therefore there was no duel between JT and rhythm guitarist Stefan. Outside" was introduced as the first new song. Rob made a statement in "Your philosophy" that the song is about relationships where one partner wants to force his opinion on the other and that doesn't end well. Another new song „Control“ followed, which turned out well. With "System" followed the criticism of the one-sided reporting of media. A ballad "With You" was played. Then birthday girl Steffi got to hear a rocking birthday serenade from the Mampferia crew, which meant a lot to her and said thanks. After "Snowblind" another new song was presented with "10'000 elements" and with "Shoot the moon" this planet was targeted. Now and then it‘s just troublesome and you‘ve to tell where to get off. Said and done and faced a round of zombies in "Native Zombies", which you chased away with harsh sounds. That would‘ve been the end of the concert, but the band did the math without the audience. That's why an encore followed with "Forgotten". After that they wanted to hear one more song and on request of Sepp Klodel the number "Real Temptation" was played again in a slightly changed form and the audience was satisfied. Much applause followed for the appearance, which they had earned for their great performance. New songs like "Outside", "Control" and "10'000 elements" brought freshness to their show that night and awoke joy for more concerts of the five-piece. A good selection was brought by DJ Markus and mixer Stephan alias Zottel was responsible for the mixing. Many thanks to Seppi's Mampferia and the bands for the great evening. It was a pleasure to visit this place again. I like to come back. Livereport by Dominic Latscha
