 Fire Rose (SWI), D’OR (SWI)
Presented by Rockfact Music Club & Jaunty Productions
Rockfact Music Club, Münchenstein,  Switzerland – 09.09.2023
The second album „Blood On Your Hands“ by Fire Rose was published on September 8, 2023 and the record release party took place one day later. D’Or  was booked as support act and the event was announced by Jaunty Productions. My curiosity for the live performance of the band from Baselland was aroused, because it had been a while since I experienced them. That's why I went to the Rockfact Music Club to get rid of this stigma. The doors of the venue opened at 7 pm after the summer break and it felt great enjoying con-
erts in this place again. The starting signal for the evening was given by the group D'Or from Central Switzerland. At 8:30 p.m. a rock intro with the theme song from the movie "Back to the Future" bumped out of the speakers and the band members entered the stage. "Veni Vidi Ignis" opened the performance. Fun and dirty-loud music was served, which reminded of the 80s due to the ingredients. You had the impression singer Andy Dormann and his musical comrades-in- arms René Meier, Dave Roos Launchbury and Marcel SPIGA had stolen the Delorean from Doc Brown and Marty McFly and traveled to L.A.'s Sunset Strip. Bassist Dave and guitarist René had guitar duels as well as Andy with René and Dave. That was a lot of fun and the joy of the music was always palpable at all times. Furthermore singer Andy shone with his dirty rock'n'roll voice and delivered a load of guitar solos. His guitar colleague René was also allowed to shine with guitar solos. René and Dave supported with background vocals and golden masks were mounted on the microphone stands. Andy told there‘s only one political way to rock before the cover "There's Only One Way To Rock" by Sammy Hagar from 1983 was played. After the casual "Jack in the Box", Andy shared the upcoming song "Flashbacks" was about how cool it would’ve been on tour in 1985, because all the great records came out back then.  "Veleno" was performed by their twin band Kissing Black. Andy said during „Dancing“  some spectators wanted to shake their butts and when the song was played, one had to clap along on instruction. The task was mastered sovereignly and also some butts shook. Shouting along the word "Hellrazor" was announced during "Scream", which was done with much joy. Actually the gig would‘ve been over and the four-piece wanted say goodbye. The fun factor was high and this wasn’t accepted, but encores were demanded. These were granted. The first encore was "Rage Unbound". Andy led over to the WASP classic "Animal (Fuck like a beast)" with the statement "At that time the band wrote the most beautiful favorite songs like e.g. Bon Jovi, but this is my favorite". The complete set was played and the D'Or band members were adopted with applause. A good performance to make the audience sweat. Setlist D’Or Veni Vidi Ignis Electric Shock Future, Baby There’s only one way to rock – Sammy Hagar Jack in the box Flashback Mr. Madman Kick Ass Veleno – Kissin Black Dancing Scream Rage Unbound Animal (Fuck like a beast) - WASP After a short break, the time had come and the headliner Fire Rose climbed on stage. The question was how the guys will present themselves and react to the good performance of the opening band. With a good mood and a burning passion that ignited from the first song "Heroes" from the current disc "Blood On Your Hands". There was a lot of movement on the boards and despite tight space the band members managed to pass each other. Singer Philipp Meier shone with a great vocal performance and put his heart and soul into every sung word. The guitar fraction Simon and Florian Giese let the riffs speak for themselves and fought guitar duels with each other and also dueled with bassist Janick Schaffner. It didn‘t only look great, but was performed professionally. You could feel the burning passion and joy from head to toe of the five-piece. The focus was on the songs from the above mentioned work, but also numbers from the debut "Devil On High Heels" were played tonight. Then special guests were announced. Singer Andrea Raffaella Böll (ex- Infinitas) entered the stage for "Devil On High Heels". Philipp and she did a great joint performance and fresh nuances were added by the female voice. After "Life" the next musical guest was allowed to come on stage. Andy Dormann sang with Philipp "Don't Need Somebody" and the two singers had a little competition who could sing better. A clear draw to me because both singers have great voices. There was a hint of Manowar in the air during "Together We Stand" and the guitar riffs and lyrics were primarily responsible for that. After that, almost all band members left the stage. The new drummer Simon Sutter (ex-Craticula) was allowed to perform a drum solo and did it in such a relaxed way you were astonished. All band members came back during "Fields of Honor" and Philipp wore a military helmet. After "Fades To Grey" the CD got baptized. Hungi from Zurich joined as godfather and there was no CD on that stage, but a tape. No joke, it’s the truth! Hungi was handed a bottle of tequila by Philipp and doused the cassette. Afterwards he and the other band members took a sip from the bottle. They wanted to leave after „Touchdown“ and „Rain Falling Down“. The audience had another opinion and demanded encores loudly. For this reason, "Get It All" and "Wheels On Fire" were played. The powder was shot and Fire Rose was adopted with much applause. They had really earned it. Soon they’ll be on tour with Jaded Heart in Germany and Belgium and in November they‘ll be support for the legendary Scottish rockers Nazareth. There was also music in the back. Many thanks to Jaunty Productions for organising this event. It was a great evening. Livereport by Dominic Latscha
