IRON SAW BLADE
Excentric (SWI), SorePoint (SWI)
The Swiss band Excentric from canton Basel-Country was one of my
greatest discoveries between 2008 and 2012. I was very sad when they
announced a break because their energetic live performances always had
been a placer. Recently, their social media accounts were updated again and
I couldn’t have been happier. The joy grew when a concert was announced
at the Rockfact Music Club in Münchenstein. After a long absence, it was
time to visit this venue again and enjoy some high-quality Swiss alternative
metal. Alternative sounds from the 90s are making a comeback, and it
sounds exciting. It was also IRON-T21's first concert after the summer
break. The doors opened at 8 pm and SorePoint was allowed to

inaugurate the evening musically at 8:30 pm. This band from Oftringen, canton of Aargau was new to me, and I was
excited to see their show. They started with “It's Time to Let Go.” Singer Manuela gave a fantastic performance and
interacted with her bandmates and the audience confidently. Bassist Christoph provided the groove and guitarist Steff
delivered the riffs. He played with a lot of passion, and after “Painkiller,” there was a forced interruption. He was screwed
when a string on his instrument broke, so a member of Excentric came and helped him string a new one. Then they
continued with “The world is calling you,” and the concentrated burst of energy was palpable once again. In the
background, drummer Alex provided driving drum beats and created a great sound foundation with bassist Christoph.
Lead guitarist Flo looked very relaxed in the spotlight in his shorts, and his dexterity was just great. Bassist Christoph and
guitarist Steff repeatedly sought contact to compete in guitar duels. The driving bass lines and varied set list thrilled the
audience. The five-piece left the stage to loud applause at 9:25 pm. They made a very good impression at their live
premiere in the canton of Basel-Country. At present, they’re working on a new album.

After that, there was a short break and the stage was prepared for the headliner. Excentric took the stage at 9:30 pm.
Unlike in the past, they’ve shrunk to a trio. The lighting system displayed the letters of the band's name one after the
other, and drummer Raff was the first member to take his seat. Then guitarist Marc entered the stage and singer Pivi
joined him. It was clear right from the start their war paint had a “Mad Max Fury Road / Furiosa” touch and aroused
excitement. To start the performance in a manner befitting their status, they chose a powerful song, the Godsmack
classic “Awake” from the album of the same name. The blazing fire of Pivi, Marc, and Raff was visible and manifested
itself in a show in which the members interacted with the audience. Pivi climbed down from the stage with the new song
“Black Despair,” and ran through the audience. During their show, the lighting system changed color to match the mood
of the songs, and clouds of fog shot out. It was a treat for the eyes, and the louder, harder, and more uncompromising
sound was a delight for the ears. The newer song “Raise Your Wings” was dedicated to people who have their backs
against the wall but still don't give up. Here, everyone clapped along with the band to the rhythm. Singer Pivi gave a
good vocal performance. A spectator named Lucas had his birthday and was invited on stage, where he was allowed with
a beer bottle in his hand to rock out briefly. The title song “What I've Done,” by Linkin Park from the movie
“Transformers” was played. After “And Then Sun” and the quiet “Take Me Away,” the audience enjoyed an unreleased
song called “Higher Self.” It was as good as the previous numbers and impressed with its catchiness and melody. A cover
of the Red Hot Chili Peppers hit “Under The Bridge” was played after “Still Standing”. Pivi left the stage again with “4 PM”
and everyone had to kneel on command and jump up on the count of 4. That was done really well. The performance
should’ve ended, but the calls for an encore became more and more, and the crowd couldn’t get enough. An encore “See
My Face” was played, and halfway through the song, a small gap had to be created between the fans. Pivi handed out
rubber sticks to the people in the front row, and when the music started again, they had to hit each other with them. It
was very funny to release the pent-up energy in a sporty and creative way. Then there were a few small explosions from
some of the sticks and confetti came out. This ingenious idea brought Excentric's performance to an end. Well, no one
was allowed to leave yet, because the three-piece wanted to take a farewell selfie with their fans. Pivi, Marc, and Raff
received enthusiastic applause and left at 11 p.m. They had earned it because of their great live show.

Unfortunately time had upset the fun because the hours flew by and you could tell when you looked at the clock.
However, you could still linger at Rockfact and chat with the bands or buy merchandise. Adriano from Audiopool was
behind the controls for SorePoint and Gregory mixed Excentric. Thanks to your good work, the music sounded
powerful and strong. Thank you very much for your contribution to this wonderful evening.
