Synlakross (ESP), As Sanity Fades (SWI)
Met Bar, Lenzburg,  Switzerland – 05.05.2023
I was full of joy when a certain concert was announced at the Met Bar in the small town of Lenzburg in the canton of Aargau two years ago. Unfortunately, fate showed its ugly side, ruined all events with the Corona Pandemic and a period of bitterness returned. This condition later came to an end. Recently the Met Bar announced a concert with the Spanish band Synlakross again. As Sanity Fades was the opening band. My heart almost jumped out of my chest with joy when I saw the leaflet and I went to the gig in Lenzburg. I really wanted to find out how the Spaniards present themselves live. You could enter the venue at 8 pm and enjoy the ambiance. Both bands presented their stuff at the merchandise stand. I used the time to talk with friends. The members of As Sanity Fades entered the stage at
9 pm after one hour wait. The melodic death metal band from the city of Winterthur started their performance with the song „Aus einer anderen Welt“. Ramon came as new singer. In addition he did the windmill and growled into the microphone. The band presented a majority of songs in German. The songs came to the point with modern synthesizer arrangements and samples which fit into the sound. The catchy melodies and live performance was well-received by the audience. Ramon came up with the joke „we’re As Sanity Fades from Thurgau, oh no from Winterthur because saying that is forbidden“. Two unreleased songs „Verderbnis“ and „Faulturm“ were played for the first time live. A nice gesture from the five-piece to present new material exclusively to the fans. "War" was the only song played in English before the last song "God's Children and Devil's Son" finished the performance. The audience adopted singer Ramon and his colleagues with applause. Setlist As Sanity Fades Aus einer anderen Welt Geistheiler Kellerkinder (Ein Rachefeldzug) Verbaldurchfall Menschenjagd Blutbad Verderbnis Faulturm War Gottes Kind und Teufels Sohn An interruption occured and the stage was remodeled. This was an opportunity to get hydrated and catch up with people again. The wait ended at 10:30 PM with headliner Synlakross on stage. The metalband from Southern Spain about singer Patricia Pons from Valencia was very happy about their live premiere in Switzerland. „0KAMI“ sounded as first song. There was a lot of movement and action on stage because every band member put heart and soul into their show and side changes followed despite the tight space. They showed themselves in top form and managed to captivate the audience from the very beginning with their mixture of Swedish death metal, alternative metal and groove metal and put them in their pocket. Catchy melodies with razor-sharp guitar riffs and a singer who presented different facets of her voice with growls and clear vocals. A cover of the Swedish death metal legend In Flames „Colony“ followed which also had a videoclip. Full speed through the setlist. There was no time to catch our breath and that was a good thing. Patricia thanked the organizers in the name of the group for the chance playing live in Lenzburg and the crowd for showing up. Rhythm guitarist Ivan Muñoz climbed on the bar during „Art Of Dying“ and played guitar what was lived „Rock’n’Roll“. After that “Death/Hate” and"Dark Seed" got played and their performance was over. The audience demanded encores, but all the powder was shot and there was no refill. I thought it was a bit of a pity. Nevertheless the appearance was awesome! I’ve rarely experienced such an ingenous live premiere. Hopefully they will return to Switzerland for more concerts. There were no winners that night, because As Sanity Fades as well as Synlakross  were both equally good. I also appreciated that the band members took time for their fans before and after the shows. Another positive aspect were the many spectators. Livereport by Dominic Latscha
