Fireborn (GER)
“Dreamcatcher” Album Release Party
Viva Club & Bar, Lörrach, Germany – 24.01.2026
I had the opportunity to see Fireborn live for the last time at the Südpol
Club in the municipality of Kriens in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland in
May 2025. It was the last performance with rhythm guitarist Flo. At that
time, singer Jenny Gruber announced that a new album will be released
soon. It was named "Dreamcatcher," and to celebrate its release, a release
party was organized at the Viva Club in the city of Lörrach in Baden-
Württemberg. I couldn't miss this, so I went to the event with a colleague.
One must celebrate when one has the chance. The doors opened at 8 p.m.,
and an hour later, it was time. An intro bumped out the speakers, and the
members of Fireborn entered the the stage one after the other. They
started with the explosive "Dancing With The Villain“ and singer Jenny
Gruber joined her musical comrades. She hit every note precisely with her
raspy voice, and also impressed with her stage presence. She interacted with the audience and integrated them into the
performance. Requests to clap and sing along were met without hesitation. This was a plus to the atmosphere. Guitarist
Dennis performed guitar solos and cut a fine figure in the spotlight. Bassist Chris brought the groove and coordinated with
drummer Raphael to create a solid sound foundation in line with the German quality premise of “square, practical, good.”
Rhythm guitarist Rick looked like a rock star. He engaged in guitar duels with Chris and Dennis. It looked pretty cool to see
this trio competing with each other on their strings. It was clearly a tie, because they mastered this dexterity as they had
been born with it. It was very exciting and attracted a lot of attention. Despite the cramped conditions on the small stage,
each band member made optimal use of their space. The focus was clearly on their second album, “Dreamcatcher,” but
songs from their debut, “Reflections,” were also included in the set. After “Little Wanderer,” Jenny thanked everyone in
attendance for their support, saying that without them it wouldn‘t have been possible. In addition, personal experiences
were processed on “Dreamcatcher” and the band members praised their many years of practicing together. This caused
applause and showed the down-to-earth nature of the five-piece. I shouted “Yeah” loudly, when the question “Who wants
this CD?” was asked and when she threw the CD into the air, I was able to catch it with my right hand. How cool was that!
It was also a good transition to “Pull The Trigger.” Former member Flo was brought on stage by Jenny with a teasing “Hey,
retiree, still got it?” and he was allowed to rock out with his colleagues on this song. He concentrated and refuted Jenny's
statement with a professional performance. Afterwards, he left the stage again, but received much praise for his
commitment. The evening passed by rapidly, and after “Human 2025” the disappointment was huge when “Young Heart
Dies” was announced as the last song. “But you're welcome to ask for encores” added Jenny, and that's exactly what
happened. The encore “Angel In Need” was played after Jenny's announcement, “Now it's going to get a little romantic,
but not with me,”. After that came a second encore, “Set Off.” Then the show was over, but nobody was allowed to leave.
A selfie was taken with the audience in front of the stage, and Jenny, Dennis, Chris, Rick, and Raphael said goodbye. They
received standing ovations for their sensational performance.“Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by American rock singer Pat
Benatar played as the outro at 10:50 p.m. The members left the stage to freshen up and re-energize.
