The debut „Devil On High Heels“ from the Swiss hard rock / heavy metal band Fire Rose had been publised in 2016. At the time, the group peaked position 79 of the Swiss charts and generated entusiasm beyond their canton border. After waiting a long time the five-piece from Sissach announced the second album „Blood On Your Hands“ will be released on September 8, 2023. Furthermore Simon Sutter (ex-Craticula) was incorporated as new drummer after the departure of Daniel. The video to „Heroes“ was published on July 14, 2023 and the video to the title track „Blood On Your Hands“ on August 11, 2023 on their Youtube channel. On the cover you see a dead man with muscles covered by roses. The drums were recorded with V.O. Pulver at Little Creek Studios in Ormalingen. Guitars, bass and keyboards were recorded by the band. The vocals were recorded with Jean-Marc Viller at Frantic Ville Studios in Olten. Blood On Your Hands starts with "Heroes". It’s a song where organ sounds are heard at the beginning and sticks to melodic hard rock. It features a catchy rhythm and shows another facet of the band. I like it very much because it surprises the listener. It continues with the first-class party track "Touchdown" with a notable rise of hardness and the mood pulls along. Sitting still and standing still is a crime here because the rhythm grabs your mind and soul from the first second and invites you to headbang. Hits sunk and won. "Blood On Your Hands" starts with a cinematic introduction before the melodic guitar riffs kick in. The chorus invites you to sing along and will surely be sung live by the audience. Starting at 3:02, keyboard-accented melodies appear before a guitar solo is heard. An exciting composition. At "Rise Like The Sun" a scream from Philipp sounds from 0:17 before the vocals start. Impresses with its positive message "Rise Like The Sun, spread all your light, show all your beauty and shine like a star". "Leave Your Cage" is in no way inferior to its predecessor "Rise Like The Sun" and convinces with melody and a positive vibe. "Get It All" starts quietly and then rocks the hell out of it, which shows in fist clenches in the air when Philipp resolutely sings the chorus. A powerful rock ballad comes along with "Rain Falling Down". Lines like "Rain is falling down why did you leave me and I stand here alone without you" sung by Philipp gives goosebumps. "Fly To The Rainbow" is faster again and the metal influence is noticeable here. Rousing guitar riffs by Simon and Florian is fun. "Fly So High To The Sky, Fly So High, Fly To The Rainbow" sung by Philipp into the mic before guitar solos start. We are approaching the home stretch and at the beginning, „Life" has a slight WASP influence at "Dying For The World" times. Here I like the message about life, which you hold in your own hands and decide about it. The last song is "Fields Of Honor" and the band combines all their strengths in catchy melodies and guitar riffs one more time before piano sounds provide an elegant fade out. The sound is more in the hard rock realm than in metal on this second album. In addition, the sound ain’t quite as hard as on the first album. A positive mood is noticeable, which is expressed in every note and is another plus given the current world situation. The guitar faction Giese works like an oiled machine. On Saturday, September 9, 2023, "Blood On Your Hands" will be baptized live at Rockfact Music Club in Münchenstein. Furthermore, Fire Rose is currently riding on a wave of success. Besides the confirmation for a tour with Jaded Heart through Germany and Belgium in October 2023, they’ll be on the road in November 2023 for the second tour as support for Nazareth. I wish you all the success because they inspire with "Blood On Your Hands" and I’m curious how the songs will sound live.
