IRON SAW BLADE
Brainholz (SWI), Hammer On (SWI)
Presented by Rockfact Music Club & IRON-T21
Rockfact Music Club, Münchenstein, Switzerland – 24.02.2024
Brainholz is a retro rock band from Canton of Bern. The famous guitar player Pat
Tschäppät (Bad Ass Romance) is in their line-up. I was very happy when they
announced their show at Rockfact Music Club. It wanted to see them live and wrote
the date in my agenda. Hammer On became the local support act. It seemed very
interesting and I decided to take part in the concert. The doors opened at 8 pm and
you could enter. The members of Hammer On were on stage at 8:35 pm. The six-
piece from Laufental, canton of Basel-Country started to perform „Master“. Soon it
became clear their music isn’t easy to classify because they presented a mixture of
blues rock with influences of Funk-, World Music, Soul and resulted in an interesting amalgam. The sound got a special
note with the integration of percussion. The joy of playing was noticeable at all times and I liked the change between
drummer Joshua Düblin and percussionist Dario Gunti on the song "Working On A Farm". Both stayed on their positions
and returned to their instruments after „Manger“. The polyphonic vocals of Timon Düblin and Max Lüthi seemed harmonic
and matched the sound. The songs were quieter in the beginning but the harshness level was adjusted and it got louder
with more songs. Max Lüthi was allowed to shine with guitar solos and did a great job. After "Denial of Death", the six-
piece said goodbye to the audience and left the stage. They made a good impression.

After that there was a short interruption and the stage was rearranged. A welcome opportunity to moisten the throat
after this performance. There was also an opportunity to chat with other visitors about what they had seen. The long-
awaited headliner Brainholz entered the stage at 10:05 pm. The band led singer Remo Schüpbach performed in canton
of Basel-Country for the first time. After the intro (Prince riff), "Damn Blue Night" was played. What came next was
simply incredible. Remo hit every note with his distinctive rock voice and radiated a lot of joy. He also took the
microphone stand in his hands and often sought contact with guitarist Pat Tschäppät. He in turn shone with his finger
playing on the four strings and sought contact with bassist Basil Jensen to compete in guitar duels. There was plenty of
movement on stage and the sound was never old-fashioned. There was a mix of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Greta
van Fleet in a modern and catchy way. The spectators reacted with great enthusiasm which was reflected in the
applause. The Bernese used the oportunity to promote their second album „Disappear in Time“, released in 2023.
However, songs from the debut „These Days Are Gone“ from 2016 got played too. And the played cover version was none
other than "Whole Lotta Love" by the legendary Led Zeppelin. It was performed well and Remo reminded of Robert Plant
for a moment. The performance was awesome and the appearance should’ve ended after „Get Away“. The audience felt
different and asked for an encore. This was granted with „Worn Out Wings“. The entire set was played afterwards.
Singer Remo Schüpbach, bass player Basil Jensen, drummer Steven Aebischer and guitarrist Pat Tschäppät received a lot
of applause for their great appearance. And Pat Tschäppät lived up to his nick name "The young Jimmy Page of Biel".

You could stay in the Rockfact Music Club and buy merchandise from Brainholz. I really appreciated they were also
